Mack Laing houses being removed

The town of Comox is looking to remove remaining structures from a historic location to renovate the space and honour the legacy of a local legend.

The late Mack Laing moved to Comox in 1922, where he purchased a home now known as Baybrook.

For years it’s been a space to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of nature.

But like most things, with time, they start to fall apart.

So now the town wants to remove the remaining structures on the property and restore the property to a natural state for passive recreation use.

Comox Mayor Paul Ives says staff will work with stakeholders and the community on the possibility of renovating the space.

He adds that he expects this to come forward to the public in a parks use plan later this year.
