‘No foul play’ after body found on beach in Campbell River

Police say that a death in Campbell River’s Ocean Grove neighbourhood over the weekend is not suspicious.

A male’s body was discovered late Sunday morning, on the beach adjacent to Highway 19A.

“It’s not suspicious at all,” said Campbell River spokesman, Const. Maury Tyre. “It’s basically been turned over to the coroners service.”

Tyre said typically if the RCMP believe foul play was involved in a death, they would notify the public.

“There’s no foul play here at all,” he said.

BC Coroners Service spokesman, Andy Watson, confirmed that the service is investigating the unexpected death of a male in his 70s from Campbell River.

Watson says the investigation will look to determine how, where, when and by what means he came to his unexpected death.
