Open House on tap for Glacier View Lodge Affordable Housing Project

Your voice is needed on the Glacier View Lodge Affordable Housing Project.

The Glacier View Planning Study House is happening this Monday (Jan. 20) at the Little Red Church at 2182 Comox Ave.

It runs from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.

You’re invited to to learn more about the proposed affordable housing project on the lands adjacent to Glacier View Lodge.

The goal is to create a development plan and vision for the 39 acres of land adjoining the lodge, to provide affordable housing for seniors on the site.

That would be for phase one of the project.

It’s a non-profit initiative, stressed Glacier View Lodge board chair James Taylor.

This is the first public meeting to learn more about the study, and to offer your input on the vision for how the property should be developed.

Glacier View is a non-profit complex care facility.

Vancouver Island University Master of Community Planning students have joined with Glacier View Lodge to create a visioning plan for the site.

This plan results in a concept development plan and, according to Glacier View Lodge, “outlines community aspirations, goals, and principles as a foundation for development decision making.”

If you can’t attend you can share your thoughts on an online survey.

Link the survey here.

The survey asks, what kind of housing you would like to see on the property.

Among the 12 choices are condominiums, assisted living with more supports, patio homes, and townhouses.

It also asks which purposes, amenities, and services you would like to see on property.
