Movie theatre program supports autism awareness
Cineplex offers a unique program for families affected by autism, and it could be coming to Vancouver Island.
Sensory Friendly Screenings offer new premiere movies in a lights up, sound down environment for individuals with autism.
Janet Anderson of Autism Speaks Canada explains the gist of the program.
She says this is a launching pad for more programs like this that aim to support autism awareness.
There’s currently no theatres on Vancouver Island running the program, but Anderson is optimistic that there will be soon with Cineplex ramping up distribution and more theatres across the country implementing the service.
