Fire destroys Campbell River home

A fire has completely destroyed a Campbell River home.

The fire department received a report at 6:47pm yesterday of a structure fire near the 7km marker on the ERT Logging Road off Willis Road.

Crews responded to the blaze and requested help from the Oyster River Fire Department for a second Water Tender truck as there were no fire hydrants in the area.

“On arrival, the home was fully involved in fire,” says Fire Chief Thomas Doherty. “Crews protected a second home located in close proximity as well as focusing efforts on cooling some large propane tanks near the burning home.”

Those in the home were able to escape and no one was injured.

The fire appears to have started in the roof around the chimney.
