Missing hiker in Strathcona Park

The following notice from the Comox Valley RCMP at 11:36 AM on Friday, March 20th.

On March 19th at 5:25 pm, a report was received by the Comox Valley RCMP of an overdue hiker in the Mount Albert Edward area of Strathcona Provincial Park.

The 18-year-old male hiker was supposed to be picked up at the Raven Lodge at 3:00 pm, but failed to show up. He was last heard from on March 18th at 3:45 pm, via a text message stating he was on his way down from Mt. Albert Edward. The young man also stated that the weather was poor, with snow falling and visibility reduced.

Friends have confirmed that the young man was well equipped for the hiking/camping trip and is an experienced hiker.

The Comox Valley Search and Rescue were activated on the evening of March 19th, and continue their efforts at this hour to locate the hiker.
