Small quake hits the region

There are several hundred quakes in this range each and every year, but it still serves as a wake up call for emergency preparation…That from Taimi Mulder, a seismologist with Earthquakes Canada after a small quake hit the region yesterday at 12:22 pm, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake in the water 144 kilometres southwest of Port Alice.

The quake struck at a depth of 7 kilometers and Mulder says earthquake preparation crucial.

Comox Valley PEP coordinator Mike Fornier says he was actually teaching one of their emergency preparation workshops at the time of the quake…

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre says No tsunami warning has been issued.
