Will’s Takeout Delivery service on a roll for Comox Valley Food Bank

Will Thompson suddenly found himself with time on his hands because of the pandemic.

So he decided to make the most of that time by offering free takeout deliveries from restaurants and cafes across the Comox Valley.

Tips are optional, and 50 percent of what he gets will go to the Comox Valley Food Bank.

Thompson said he’s happy to do the service, adding that he’s taking it to the next level to raise even more cash for the cause.

“I’ve started up a fundraiser through Facebook, so you just donate through Facebook and it goes directly to the food bank,” Will said. “The goal is 500 (dollars) and once it reaches 500 (dollars) I’m going to match that, so $1,000 total,” he said.

He has averaged about five deliveries a day since he started the service.

You can find him on Facebook at Will’s Free Takeout Delivery.

Thompson said everything will be sanitized and cleaned down between every delivery.

Here’s how it works:

  • You call the restaurant or cafe you would like food from and get a total cost from them.
  • You etransfer Thompson that total.
  • He’ll pick up the food from the restaurant or cafe and deliver to your doorstep wearing gloves.
  • Other than you paying for the food, this service will be completely free and Thompson said he’ll drive as far south as Royston and as far north as Black Creek.

To make an order, contact Thompson on Facebook or call him at 250-218-2241.
