The Campbell River RCMP is looking for a suspect involved with a domestic violence incident and robbery.

On Tuesday at around 4:30pm, police responded to the report near Evergreen and Masters Roads.

A man fled on foot and an extensive search was underway with assistance from the RCMP canine unit in attempts to find him.

Constable Maury Tyre says during this time, you may have experienced road blockages or a very quick stop to ensure the suspect was not escaping the area in a vehicle.

“The individual did not pose a threat to the general public in the area, but in cases of domestic violence it is always our intent to apprehend a suspect as soon as possible,” Tyre said. “The public was very patient and cooperative and it was greatly appreciated.”

Despite extensive efforts, the suspect was not found.

Police believe he escaped in a car parked nearby. They’re now looking for a black 2008 BMW 323 I, BC licence plate JL071R.

If you see this car you’re asked to not approach it, but get in touch with the Campbell River RCMP at (250) 286-6221.

For privacy reasons, Tyre adds that the suspect’s name cannot be shared at this time.
