AVICC Convention hits Courtenay this weekend

Many hot topics will be discussed this weekend at the Florence Filberg Centre in Courtenay.

Why is that, you ask? It’s the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities convention!

The 3-day affair involves politicians and individuals from all over the region discussing issues that affect the Island.

One of the biggest topics that will be discussed is BC Ferries.

We spoke to Jim Abram, the chair of the Strathcona Regional District to get his thoughts on the ever pressing ferry issue.

AVICC Director Colin Palmer will be leading the “Future of BC Ferries” presentation on Friday.

Another issue that will be covered is the export of raw logs.

The convention starts up on Friday at the Florence Filberg Centre in downtown Courtenay.
