Snowbirds and CF-18 jets take to the skies!

Looked up in the sky lately?

Maybe you heard the roar of their jet engines?

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds team has set up shop at 19 Wing Comox for spring training camp–and they’re kinda hard to miss as they soar the skies of our region.

Goat News spoke to Major Mary Lee says, who so far so good for their training regime with lots of practice runs already in the books.

Major Mary Lee says the valley boasts a much more varied terrain, than their current home base of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, so year after year the snowbirds fly back to the Comox Valley for an intensive training stint, to fine tune their routine for the busy 2015 air show season.

And so valley residents should brace themselves with the CF-18 fighter jets also flying in to CFB Comox Wednesday for their annual spring training stint.

Major Mary Lee says each morning the CF-18 Demonstration Team practice will commence following the Snowbirds practice for 30-minute duration. In the afternoons, the CF-18’s will commence practice at approximately 1:30 p.m prior to the Snowbirds practice.

She added members of the public can expect increased aircraft activity throughout the Comox Valley between during these practice dates and it will vary in terms of location and duration based on training requirements and weather.

Military officials tells Goat News every effort will be made to limit the flying activities to minimize disturbances to the Comox Valley public.

Major Lee says the Canadian Armed Forces Snowbirds, the CF-18 Demonstration Team and 19 Wing thank the residents of the Comox Valley for their support and understanding over the next three weeks.
