Save Our Forests Team rally planned for Courtenay tomorrow

The Comox Valley Save Our Forests Team is sponsoring a rally tomorrow to Save B.C’s remaining Old Growth forests.

It will be held at Courtenay-Comox MLA Ronna-Rae Leonard’s offices on 5th Street at 11:00 am.

Gillian Anderson is one of the organizers of the event.

She says it’s not a huge gathering, but it is important to share our thoughts on these issues.

“We’re really just a loose group of concerned citizens and we feel very strongly about what’s going on. We’re alarmed by the crisis in BC. There apparently doesn’t seem to be any leadership at all on the forestry issue so we’re holding a rally to express our grave concern.”

“Sometimes we think that our concerns are ours and ours alone, but when we actually see people out picketing we realize a large number of people share our concerns,” Anderson added.

The group plans to rally for 45 minutes to an hour, and then walk down 5th Street and hold signs at the Cliffe Avenue intersection.

They also plan to have Torrance Coste, the National Campaign Director for the Wilderness Committee present to speak at the event.

More information can be found on the Comox Valley Save Our Forests group on Facebook.
