CVCF Home Sweet Home online auction opens Saturday

The Comox Valley Community Foundation’s virtual Home Sweet Home virtual auction gets underway tomorrow.

It’ll be available for bids until next Saturday, Oct. 10.

Foundation President, Matt Beckett, says the Home Sweet Home gala and online auction raise much-needed funds for the foundation to continue its important work in the community.

Since April, the foundation has supported emergency pandemic response through grants to not-for-profit organizations totaling $354,845, with an additional $51,170 in emergency relief to be distributed in the coming months to ensure everyone in the valley has what they need during these challenging times.

In addition, CVCF is continuing with its Community Enrichment Grants, which will be awarded in January 2021.

All told, CVCF will be distributing over $1 million to local charities and not for profits this fiscal year.

With the support of local families, businesses and organizations who have created endowed funds, the CVCF has awarded more than $3.2 million to over 170 local non-profits and 230 students since 1996.

Beckett says given the COVID-19 pandemic, they’ve had to re-imagine the annual gala and all the pieces that accompany it.

“A silent auction has long been a part of the gala, and this year we decided to open it up to the general public for their participation as well.”

“Our Comox Valley business community has once again been incredibly generous and we invite you to view the great selection of items available,” Beckett added.

The auction is open to residents of the Comox Valley only.
