Strathcona Gardens making plans for return to competitive hockey play

Staff at the Strathcona Gardens in Campbell River are doing what they can to provide a safe environment for the hosting of mass gatherings, including junior hockey.

Strathcona Gardens Commission Chair Andy Adams says he would love to see the Campbell River Storm play at the facility.

“As a long time Storm fan who looks forward to ‘Friday Night Lights at the Brindy’, I hope we can work through the provincial regulations and authorities to enable a gradual re-opening so that the best fans in the VIJHL can once again cheer on our team”.

Gardens staff say they are monitoring the information and guidelines provided by the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), viaSport and the British Columbia Parks and Recreation Association (BCRPA) but are trying to find a way to introduce a gradual safe expansion to hockey and other sporting events.

The team says it’s going to continue to look at viable options and solutions to work within the provincial order mandate to allow the hosting of competitive play, such as a Campbell River Storm hockey game.

Strathcona Gardens will continue to keep the public informed and COVID-19 updates, safety plans and additional information can be found at www.strathconagardens.com/covid-19.
