This year, there’s a twist because of the COVID-19 pandemic. On Nov. 1st, the Comox Valley Child Development Association will host their 45th CVCDA Children’s Telethon from 12 noon to 8 pm. For the first time ever, the fundraiser is going virtual. Now, you can watch and help out from home or wherever you are.The event will still be a free, live event for the whole family to view in real-time on either Shaw Spotlight TV or online streaming. As always, you can help out in a number of ways. This year everything will be available online through their website including an online donation form, silent auction bidding, and the 50/50 ticket sales. A highlight each year is the silent auction. Right now, there are over 60 items available to bid on with new ones being added each week, all donated by local businesses from throughout the Comox Valley.Included in this year’s silent auction, is the ‘Buy Now’ option to buy a CVCDA branded face mask. They’re available for $15 each. In keeping the fundraising virtual, the CVCDA will also be hosting their first ever, online 50/50 raffle. Tickets are currently available for sale online at $10 for five numbers. This year, the silent auction and 50/50 ticket sales will remain strictly online, leading up to and throughout the telethon. Auction bidding will end at 7:00pm on Sunday, Nov. 1st. Then, the 50/50 draw will take place live at 7:45pm. All of these fundraising totals will be included in the total funds raised for the 2020 telethon.
