A craft brewery and restaurant in Comox is closed after one of its staff tested positive for COVID-19.
In a Facebook post on the Church St. Taphouse page, co-owner Chris Morrison said they closed their doors yesterday out of an abundance of caution.
Morrison said the employee last worked at the Taphouse over a week ago on Tuesday, Oct. 27th from 5:00pm to 11:00pm. and was wearing a mask.
He provided an update to Vista Radio today, saying “we are taking it day by day, but will not open Thursday. Potential to reopen tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, the employee did not have any symptoms at the time and is now in quarantine, Morrison noted.
“We have *not* been advised by Island Health to close, but for the safety of our employees and guests it is the most responsible thing to do.”
Morrison said it was a bit of a shock to hear the news and we are gathering as much information on the timeline of events.
“We are speaking directly with Island Health to enquire about any additional recommended next steps,” he added in the post.
“We spent today following extra cleaning procedures throughout the building.
Additionally, as a further precaution we have a few employees taking the test and they will not return to work until a result is known. We will assess where we are at, again Thursday, and let you know about our timeline to reopen safely.”
