Snow to Surf Cyclist seriously injured in crash

Local Mounties are still investigating after a cyclist in the Royal LePage Snow to Surf was struck on Sunday along Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay, resulting in serious injuries to the cyclist.

RCMP Constable Don Sinclair explains…

RCMP can’t confirm whether the male cyclist was with the snow to surf relay but race officials say the cylist was indeed in the race. Constable Sinclair says it doesn’t look like charges will be laid.

Meanwhile a source confirms the cyclist, 67 year old Stephen Price of Victoria, suffered extensive injuries, including a severe concussion, broken scapula, broken clavicle, six broken ribs and a punctured lung.

The source says he is “doing remarkably well considering the damage, but remains in Vancouver General Hospital undergoing tests and observation.”
