Local mixed martial artist fights for clean water

A Comox Valley fighter’s proving to be a champion in and out of the ring.

Chris Anderson, who trains out of the Comox Valley Boxing Club, is the Battlefield Fight League and Hard Knocks Fighting‘s Welterweight champion.

Now he’s helping out an indigenous pygmy tribe in the Congo through the charity Fight for the Forgotten.

He’s trying to raise 35-hundred dollars to build a water well in the Congo for the tribe that have never had access to clean water.

Anderson says the tribe’s traditions and cultures remind him of his own, which is one of the reasons he wanted to help out.

He goes into a bit more detail on the Fight for the Forgotten charity.

There’s going to be a fundraising event at the Prime Chophouse in Courtenay on May 17th. Anderson’s also looking for sponsors. You can donate to the cause by visiting Chris’ GoFundMe page.

Anderson, who holds a record of 9-2 in the octagon, is prepping for a big Welterweight title defense at the River Rock Casino in Richmond on May 30th.
