Comox Valley RCMP investigating after man attacked with hammer on Courtenay trail

Comox Valley RCMP officers are investigating after an assault took place in Courtenay. 

Police say the victim told officers he was walking along the Rotary trail near 11th Street and Cumberland Avenue when he nodded at the suspect who then pulled out a small hammer and swung it in the victim’s direction, hitting him in the arm. 

The victim told police he was not injured and he did not require medical attention at the time of the report.  

“Our patrols have increased in the area, including bike patrols” explains Cst. Monika Terragni, the Media Relations Officer with the Comox Valley RCMP. 

 “We are committed to living and working in a safe community and we will continue to adjust our resources and work with our community partners in areas that need attention,” she added.  

The suspect is described as a man in his twenties between 5’11” and 6’0” tall, slim build, with pale skin. He was wearing baggy blue jeans and an oversized black hoodie.
