Campbell River, Comox Valley SAR crews help extract injured hiker atop Sugarloaf Mountain

It just goes to show the importance of teamwork.

On Tuesday (Mar. 30th), search and rescue crews (SAR) from the Comox Valley and Campbell River were tasked with assisting Metchosin SAR.

The call for help came in at around 4:00 pm after a hiker suffered a lower-body injury atop Sugarloaf Mountain, near Sooke.

Clear skies made for a quick trip down the island, Campbell River SAR says, adding that the man being “pre-packaged” and ready for extraction resulted in an efficient hoist to a nearby BC Ambulance.

And with this latest rescue mission, Campbell River SAR reminds us: “Slips, trips and falls happen despite our best fitness, experience and preparation. SAR is always there to help those in need in the backcountry.”
