Potential low-risk COVID-19 exposure at Comox Community Centre

We’re learning of a potential low-risk COVID exposure at the Comox Community Centre fitness centre.

The town says it was advised by Island Health of a possible exposure event at the facility on May 17th.

It was categorized as a low transmission risk and as such Island Health isn’t doing any contact tracing for anyone who was in the studio at the time.

Further, Island Health is not asking anyone to self-isolate from this event and encourages everyone to self-monitor for symptoms.

“We have been informed the customer followed all the required guidelines while in the building,” the town said in a release.

“Unfortunately, we do not have any further information regarding the time frame in which this happened. With the protocols that have been developed and following the strict guidelines of the BCCDC including pre-registration, social distancing, spacing of equipment, mandatory face masks, and a regular cleaning regime between sessions we are confident that we have in place a high-quality system to help prevent the spread of the virus in instances such as this.  “
