Comox Valley RCMP identify, arrest suspect after armed robbery in Cumberland

The Comox Valley RCMP’s Major Crime Unit is thanking the public for helping identify an armed robbery suspect.

At around 10:00pm June 12th, a male suspect went into Cumberland’s Waverly Hotel Liquor Store with a weapon and demanded money. 

The employee complied and the suspect took off on foot.

Investigators have since arrested a suspect.

According to RCMP Const. Monika Terragni, investigators were in Cumberland all week, canvassing for video evidence and witnesses. 

“The response from the residents and business owners in Cumberland was overwhelmingly helpful and investigators would like to thank everyone who took the time to go through their surveillance footage to assist with identifying the suspect,” Terragni added.

The suspect has been released from custody pending further investigation.
