New COVID immunization clinics open in Comox Valley

Island Health has opened two new COVID-19 immunization clinics in the Comox Valley.

The clinic that opened at the Florence Filberg Centre on July 1st will continue, while a second clinic is now open at the regional BC Assessment Authority office at 2488 Idiens Way in Courtenay.

Because of the challenges presented by the heat and temperatures inside the building, the Glacier Gardens clinic will not reopen.

Anyone with previously booked appointments at Glacier Gardens up to July 18th should go to the Filberg Centre, even if they get a text or email reminder directing them to Glacier Gardens.

Island Health is in the process of contacting people whose appointments were cancelled due to last week’s extreme heat-related clinic closures and have not yet re-booked.

If you have not received a call and would like to reschedule you’re asked to call 1-833-838-2323 to book in.

Island Health says it’s “also aware that some people were recently not able to book appointments at a clinic in the Comox Valley online or over the phone.”

It says these issues have been resolved so anyone who was unable to book is encouraged to try again and people who booked at a clinic in another community can re-book into a Comox Valley clinic.
