Comox Valley RCMP confirms accidental fall in Courtenay

Nobody pushed a woman out of a hotel room window in Courtenay.

That’s what members of the Comox Valley RCMP’s Major Crime Unit are saying, after they wrapped up their investigation into Tuesday night’s incident.

Just after 8:00pm, police received a report that a woman had suffered serious injuries after falling from a second storey window.

Officers attended immediately and were told that the woman had been pushed.

The Major Crime Unit was called to the scene and gathered surveillance footage and witness statements from the area.

After carefully reviewing the evidence, police say “it was apparent that the woman had fallen and was not pushed.”

“Unfortunately, there are still some people in our community who believe this woman was pushed from the window” said Comox Valley RCMP media relations officer, Const. Monika Terragni.

“We want to make it clear that she was not pushed and any acts of vigilantism will be subject to their own investigation.”

The woman remains in hospital and is expected to recover.
