It’s official, Cumberland Council has adopted a Sidewalk Cafe Bylaw, which gives the green light to seasonal sidewalk cafes in commercial zones in the Village.
We spoke to Cumberland Mayor Leslie Baird, who says a local brewery got the ball rolling on this one, and Village Council recently o-k’d the project at a recent council meeting.

Recently Courtenay council unanimously supported a bid from Gladstone Brewery to have an outdoor patio built at the brewery.
In addition to support from Council, the Downtown Courtenay Business Improvement District has expressed support for the patio at Gladstone Brewery.
