A missing man from Black Creek has been located alive and Comox Valley Search and Rescue (CVSAR) is giving a shout-out to everyone who took part in the search for him.
Comox Valley SAR calls it a “great outcome” in the search for 72-year-old David Pineo.
“CVSAR would like to thank teams from Oyster River Fire Rescue, Campbell River Volunteer Search and Rescue Society, Arrowsmith Search And Rescue, Nanaimo Search and Rescue, Ladysmith Search and Rescue, Cowichan Search & Rescue, and of course Search Dog Hazel, for all their assistance in this search.”

The search continues for a missing Black Creek man with health issues.
The Comox Valley RCMP has teamed up with Comox Valley Search and Rescue (CVSAR) and neighbouring search teams in hopes of finding David Pineo.
Police say the 72-year-old was reported missing on Saturday (Aug. 21st), after he didn’t return home that same evening.
According to Cst. Monika Terragni, Pineo’s known to frequent the Macaulay Road area. She says he can’t communicate verbally and requires daily medication.
“He had a stroke about six years ago and has mobility and speech challenges,” CVSAR search manager Paul Berry tells My Comox Valley Now. “His scooter was located in Bracken Park on Saturday by residents who know him well, and he was not anywhere to be seen.”
Berry continues, “We’ve utilized air assets, so RCMP helicopter and drone, as well as search dogs and multiple searchers, and to date, have not been able to locate Mr. Pineo.”
It’s noted Pineo was last seen wearing a dark coloured baseball hat, a dark hoodie or jacket, a black t-shirt, black pants, and white running shoes.
