147th CVEX rolls into exhibition grounds

A valley tradition continues this weekend at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds.

The Comox Valley Exhibition kicks off at noon today, and runs until 7:00pm tonight, and from 10:00am to 5:00pm tomorrow and Sunday.

Exhibition president, Diane Knodel, says the fair is “pretty well” back to normal, except for inside the home and garden barn, where visitors  will have to mask up.

Knodel added that the 147th fair has lots to offer: “We have Steve Elliott, who impersonates Elvis, we also have the Laughing Loggers Show, Ryan Cook who is a carver, West Central Waterdogs are also here, we also have a petting farm and nine food vendors outside.”

She added that they had to wait until early July, after B.C. moved to Step 3 of its COVID restart plan, before planning could begin.

“So it’s been a little bit of a rush and a panic to put the event on this year, but it’s busy, we have lots of market vendors, food vendors, there’s lots to come and see and do.”

Admission is $10 for adults, and $5 for seniors 65-plus and  kids and teens ages six to 17. Children aged five and under get in free. A family pass is $25.

While you can get your tickets at the gate, organizers are recommending you buy them online here.

That’s because, due to COVID, a limited number of people can attend at one time.
