CVRD implements mandatory helmet rule for public skate sessions at Sports Centre

No helmet, no skating.

That’s the new rule for public skate sessions at the Comox Valley Sports Centre starting on Sept. 7th.

“We want to prevent any unnecessary injuries and as a result are making it mandatory for all participants to wear a helmet during all public skating and drop in hockey sessions, ice lessons and other CVRD events and programming,” states Jennifer Zbinden, CVRD senior manager of recreation facilities.

CSA helmets are strongly recommended however, the CVRD will allow any helmet, so long as it’s in good condition and fits properly.
