Valley emergency crews put through the paces on Puntledge River

Over at Courtenay’s Puntledge River Tuesday night, valley emergency crews took part in an emergency preparation exercise.

With swimmers and tubers hitting the river in droves from an early summer season kicking in, Courtenay Fire Department Lieutenant Jonathan Welsh says crews from Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue joined fire personnel on this one.

Welsh says this was a crucial exercise to get everybody on the same page when it comes to river rescue operations.

A full contingent of Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue, and Courtenay Fire Department crews were on hand for that Tuesday exercise.
