Paving work delayed on Cumberland Road in Courtenay

Improvements will be made to Cumberland Road in Courtenay this month, but the work has been delayed due to the weather.

The improvement project will include new pavement and bike lane markings between the Willemar Avenue roundabout and Piercy Avenue.

New construction dates haven’t been announced.

Work was originally scheduled from Monday to Wednesday on Willemar Avenue to the west side of 14th Street.

The construction was then set to continue on Sept. 20-22 from 14th Street to Piercy Avenue and on Sept. 23 from Willemar Avenue to Piercy Avenue.

There will likely be temporary road closures and detours during construction.

The project is being funded with the help of $500,000 from the Canada Community-Building Fund.
