John Howard KidStart asking for donations for Giving Tuesday

A local mentoring program is hoping to reach more kids in the Valley.

John Howard KidStart is a volunteer-based mentoring program that puts adult role models with children ages 6-18 for three hours of recreational or cultural activities in the Comox Valley.

The program gets its funding through donations, grants and fundraising and is asking for donations on Giving Tuesday coming up next week. They say there are 41 local children on the waitlist for the mentoring program and the donations will help match more kids with a mentor.

Donations can be made any time online at jhsni.bc.ca or in person at the John Howard Society of North Island.

Donations can also be made at COBS Bread, Mudsharks Coffee Bar, Parker Appliances, and Trail Bicycles.
