Comox Valley school closes due to COVID-19, 4 others record exposures

An independent school in the Comox Valley has closed for a week because of COVID-19 while four others have recorded exposures this month.

Galardi Academy in Comox has closed its doors from Nov. 29 to Dec. 3. The school said on Facebook that many classes had COVID-19 exposures from the community, leading to the closure.

According to Island Health, the school had potential exposures to COVID-19 on Nov. 19 and 22, 2021.

Four other schools in the Comox area experienced exposures from Nov. 15 to 23. A breakdown can be found below:

Aspen Park Elementary on Nov. 15
Glacier View Secondary School on Nov. 17
Brooklyn Elementary on Nov. 19, 23
Ecole Au Coeur de L’ile on Nov. 19

Island Health says close contacts will be contacted directly and will be asked to self-isolate.

Island Health says if direct contact isn’t made a student can still attend school.
