2 flu vaccine clinics to provide shots for families with children

Two flu clinics in the valley will be open to give free flu shots to families with children in December.

The two clinics will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 12 and Dec. 19 at 961 England Ave. in Courtenay and will be providing free flu shots to families with children who book an appointment.

According to Island Health, influenza vaccination is free of charge for everyone in B.C. who is six months and older this year.

However, the health authority says vaccination is more important for people who are aged 65 years and older, healthy children less than 5-years-old and Indigenous peoples along with healthcare workers, visitors to health care facilities and first responders.

Visit the Island Health website to learn more about vaccine eligibility.

To book an appointment on either Dec. 12 or 19 for a family with children, Island Health says to call them at 250-331-8520.
