Rotary Club raises more than $19,000 for local food initiatives

Over $19,000 was raised by the Rotary Club of Comox Valley’s (CVRC) Everyone Eats Raffle.

The club says the money will be used to support the Comox Valley Food Bank, Lush Valley Food Action Society and other projects.

CVRC president Amanda Wood says the money will not only help feed many people in the valley but also aid locally owned businesses that are having a difficult time.

“Food security is a big problem for many people living in the Valley, and more so now than ever. We are pleased to play a part in supporting food security in the Comox Valley,” said Wood.

Prizes are purchased from local businesses to give them a boost during the season, according to the club.

In addition, three winners were chosen for the raffle this year and got gift certificates for local restaurants, caterers and food sellers and tokens for the CV Farmers’ Market.
