Snowbirds to return to Comox Valley skies

The thunderous boom of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be heard over the Valley this spring.

The air demonstration group recently released its 2022 schedule, with destinations all over North America. The flying squad will start in Titusville, Florida on May 21.

The sounds won’t be heard in B.C. until Jul. 20 when they fly over Terrace. They’ll also be in Fort St. John, Penticton and Abbotsford on Jul. 31, Aug. 3 and Aug. 5 to 7.

The snowbirds will be practicing in the Comox Valley in the spring sometime between April and May, but the dates will be announced in the new year, according to a Snowbirds Facebook post.

The CF-18 also released its schedule for 2022 and will be flying in many of the same areas as the Snowbirds.

The Canadian Air Force has not said whether or not the CF-18 will be training in the Valley, or who this year’s pilot will be.
