Comox Valley fitness centres reopen this week

Two Comox Valley fitness centres will reopen this week after closure for COVID-19 restrictions.

The Comox Community Centre will reopen Thursday with registered time slots available online. The Town of Comox says staff will work to put in future registration days, up to a week in advance, as quickly as possible.

Efforts are also being made to restart fitness classes, and clerks will be phoning customers with class restart details.

The fitness centre at the Lewis Centre will start its gradual reopening on Friday at 5:30 a.m., according to a release from the City of Courtenay.

Capacity will be limited to 25 people at a time, and some equipment has been placed as out-of-order. The City says pre-registration is required with slots of 15 minutes to one hour.

Registration begins on Thursday at 2 p.m. Visit www.courtenay.ca/reconline or call 250-338-5371 or 250-338-1000 to register.

Memberships will be re-activated on Friday, and personal training will resume on the week of January 24.

Masks and proof of vaccination will be required to access the facility.
