Comox firefighters aid with vaccine administration

Over 1,000 COVID-19 booster doses have been administered by local firefighters.

Six firefighters from Comox Fire Rescue have been administering doses since December, assisting with the booster campaign.

Firefighter Brent Craven says he felt a need to help after he received his first dose.

“Back in April 2021 when I received my first COVID vaccine, I remember growing very emotional thinking about how this pandemic has influenced the world,” said Craven. “My hat goes off to anyone who is supporting the vaccination campaign. I feel lucky to be working
alongside so many great people during these clinics.”

The firefighters are scheduled to continue administering doses until the end of February.

Comox Mayor Russ Arnott says he’s grateful for the aid from firefighters and health care workers in the community assisting in the booster program.

Almost 400,000 people have received a COVID-19 booster dose at Island Health immunization clinics or pharmacies. They say multiple pharmacists, nurses, physicians and firefighters have joined the campaign.
