Village of Cumberland Chief Administrative Officer resigns

A change in administrative duties has come to the village of Cumberland.

Former Chief Administrative Officer Clayton Postings resigned from his position as CAO and completed his two-year position on April 22, according to a release.

The Village of Cumberland announced Friday current Chief Financial Officer and Deputy CAO Michelle Mason will be the interim CAP and Kevin McPhedran, current manager of parks and recreation will be interim Deputy CAO.

Cumberland mayor Leslie Baird says they will miss Postings’ absence but are pleased with his time at the village.

“We are very disappointed to see Clayton go but very happy in the changes he has implemented within the Village organization, and the positive culture he has fostered with Village staff,” said Baird. “We certainly respect Clayton’s difficult decision to take on another opportunity that will result in more time spent with his young family and we wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Baird adds it’s important for council and staff to not lose momentum and the internal appointments will let staff keep pushing forward on projects and priorities.

“We are very lucky to have capable leadership in our organization that will allow staff to continue to move forward with their current work plans,” she said.

The village says the changes will give more time to get a long-term plan in place along with the appropriate resources.
