Wildfire training to be held in the Williams Beach and Coleman Road areas

The fire departments in Courtenay, Comox, Fanny Bay and Oyster River will soon be taking part in training with BC Wildfire.

The exercise will take place on May 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Williams Beach and Coleman Road areas.

The main goal of the training is to prepare for a joint response to wildfires.

If you have questions about the exercise, you can contact Oyster River Fire Rescue at 250-337-8121.

“This type of training is crucial to ensure we are ready to respond to any wildfire locally or provincially if needed,” said Oyster River deputy fire chief Martyn Thomas.

“This exercise is a great opportunity for over 30 firefighters to train together to ensure efficient, quick response when needed.”
