Safety first out on the water

Mounties want everyone to have a safe summer, and that includes safety on and off the water.

Campbell River RCMP Staff Sergeant Troy Beauregard has a message for boaters. He says RCMP, along with the Royal Canadian Marine Search-and-Rescue, will conduct boating inspections on area lakes.

He says some common infractions the RCMP encounter are people not having safety equipment on board. He adds to make sure you have the proper types of equipment needed to safely operate your vessel before you get out on the water.
