Cumberland-area quad accident sends rider to hospital

Some quick work from Cumberland Fire Rescue helped save the lives of 2 people over the weekend.

A quad mishap happened high above Comox Lake.

Cumberland’s Assistant Fire Chief Craig Windley says 2 people got too close to the edge of the road and were launched about 20 feet off the road, with the quad following and falling another 100-150 feet down.

The male rider suffered only minor injuries, according to Windley.

Windley says BC Ambulance arrived on scene and the female rider was airlifted to hospital in Victoria. Her current condition is not known at this time.
