Comox Fire crews respond to illegal beach fires

Comox Fire Department crews have had their hands full with a rash of illegal beach fires recently.

That from Deputy Chief Rick Shelton who offered up this suggestion for residents looking to spark up a summer season fire.

Shelton says there are several designated beach fire areas…

Fortunately none of those illegal beach fires got out of hand and all were snuffed out by Comox Fire crews. The Coastal Fire Centre says fortunately there have been no major forest fires on the North Island and Sunshine Coast, however forest fire crews have been dispatched to the interior to battle several large fires.
