Man seriously injured after jumping off Devils Ladder

A man was sent to hospital with serious injuries after cliff jumping into Comox Lake.

BC Emergency Health Services say they got a call on Tuesday at around 3:20 p.m. and a ground unit and air ambulance responded.

Cumberland Fire Rescue deputy chief Stephane Dionne says the man was put into the air ambulance and had serious injuries.

“He was alert and talking, he had injuries but he was still really alive,” said Dionne.

Dionne added he had internal injuries and his legs, knees and arms were quite badly scratched.

He said the man was likely looking for a thrill that afternoon.

Following the incident, Dionne adds the cliff is a nice place to be but diving should not be risked.

“I strongly recommend that it is a nice place to look, but do not jump from there,” said Dionne.
