'Shipping container' style shelters not needed, says report
Should the City of Courtenay adopt Campbell River’s idea of using metal shipping container style homeless shelters?
That’s the question Courtenay council asked the Ad Hoc Emergency Resources Organization (AHERO) to take a look into, after concerns were raised there weren’t enough shelters in the Comox Valley, especially in extreme weather situations.
Courtenay Mayor Larry Jangula says, they got their answer at council’s Monday meeting.
Mayor Jangula says, the report does say there a few things council can work on.
In addition to Campbell River, the City of Vancouver also used the shelters during the winter months.
