Parents in School District 71 can learn about how the safety of their children is assured during an emergency or crisis this evening.
The district says the information session from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at G.P. Vanier Secondary will focus on emergency protocols and what to do in different scenarios.
Presenters will include emergency management educator, Paul Berry, Corp. Torri Cliffe of the RCMP and SD71 director of instruction, Jay Dixon.
Superintendent Tom Demeo says it is important not to call or come to your child’s school grounds if there is an emergency, and to wait until the district or RCMP say it is safe.
SD 71 says to check their social media pages, websites and local media outlets in an emergency. They add notifications are broadcast using School Messenger.
Text messaging options are also available, according to the district.
