Stage 3 water restrictions in effect for Comox Valley

Tighter water use is required in the Comox Valley starting today.

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) says Stage 3 restrictions are coming into effect because of the hot dry weather this summer and fall.

BC Hydro is reducing water flows in the Puntledge River for downstream fish habitat and for water storage within the Comox Lake reservoir until the rain comes back.

During Stage 3 restrictions, residential lawn and garden watering with a sprinkler are not permitted. You are also not allowed to pressure wash your driveway, fill a swimming pool, hot tub or garden pond, or wash your car unless you are at a commercial car wash or dealership.

Trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetables can be watered on any day between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a hand-held container, hose or drip irrigation system.

More information can be found on the CVRD website.
