Wool socks, toques, mitts, gloves and scarves are being collected by local schools for those in need this holiday season.
Everybody Deserves a Smile is making 1,355 care packages, with 910 to be handed out locally. Other packages will be sent to different communities.
The warm clothes are encouraged to be collected in men’s and non-binary sizes extra large and women’s medium.
Donations run until Dec. 5. The project needs to collect a total of 970 wool socks, 573 mitts and gloves, 1,052 toques and 1,311 scarves.
Donations can be made in person at one of the drop box locations or by making an e-transfer to [email protected].

Participating student Naomi Titley says the program is very important to her after watching her family deliver care packages.
“My dad was part of dropping off most of the boxes for a couple of years,” Naomi said. “I’m in Grade 7 now, so I wanted to join the EDAS club to help out.”
She adds she is most looking forward to dropping off boxes during their Victoria run.
Teacher lead Chantal Stephan says she would like to thank the community for allowing the program to run for the last 19 years.
