The Comox Polar Bear Swim event returns in-person on New Year’s Day

Residents in Comox can start the new year in style as the Annual Comox Polar Bear Swim will return.

The event will be at the Goose Spit on Hawkins Road, where registration starts at 10:30 A.M. and people can start taking a dip at 11:00 A.M.

Mayor Nicole Minions says the dip is an invigorating way to start the new year.

“As the holiday season approaches, there is an air of excitement to bring in the New
Year,” said Minions. “There is a sense of refresh and renewal that goes
along with jumping into the cold Salish Sea together. The dip at the Goose Spit is an
invigorating way to start 2023.”

Not only is the event free, with hot chocolate being given to participants, Comox
Fire Rescue and a lifeguard will be onsite to ensure safety and standby assistance when needed.

There is also a virtual event for the dip where, from December 27th to January 2nd, you can take a photo of yourself doing the dip with your friends or family and send them to [email protected].
