Delays along Comox Road to begin Friday for borehole repair work

Drivers can expect delays along Comox Road, Comox Hill and Balmoral Avenue Friday as repairs from an archaeological inspection are done.

The boreholes are the result of an inspection in December connected to the coming sewer conveyance project, according to the Comox Valley Regional District. Repairs are expected to begin at 7:30 with traffic reduced to single-lane alternating in each direction.

Work is expected to be finished in one day without any more traffic impacts.

The CVRD says the drilling was a critical process of the project to see if there was any archaeological material where sewer pipes can be laid down.

The project is a multi-year construction project that will replace pipes and upgrade the pump stations that move over 14,000 cubic metres of raw sewage each day.

It will begin at the Courtenay pump station and move through K’ómoks First Nation land, downtown Comox and the Lazo Road area to the Comox Valley Water Pollution Control Centre on Brent Road.

More details about the project can be found online at www.connectcvrd.ca/conveyanceproject.
