Upcoming Council meeting talks on Overdose and mental health

Potential sites for Overdose Prevention Services and access to mental health services in the Comox Valley will be a part of the upcoming Council meeting.

As part of its response to the toxic drug crisis, Island Health’s goal is to provide Overdose prevention services for the area.

A presentation will be held for council, with the organization planning to showcase a potential temporary site for their service on England Avenue.

The project team is currently working with the landlord, with plans expected to be submitted to Courtenay for review following its approval.

Also on the agenda is discussions around access to mental health and substance use services in the Comox Valley. Specifically in reference to the provincial government’s investment towards these services, and how to help meet the demands for them in the community.

The council meeting is scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday, March 8th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Harmston Avenue, where the meeting will be live-streamed on the city’s YouTube page.
